Tour de Terrace, 2012
Yet another extremely busy month for my photography. Close to 4000 images captured in the last 30 days, and for those not super quick at math, that’s an average of about 133.3 images per day. I’ve kept the shutters on my cameras busy, that’s for sure. Given that, it was pretty tough to have to narrow down my selections for this project to 7, but as always, I kind of cheat and sometimes put 2-3 into one to one ‘collage’.
Probably the busiest shooting weekend was the annual ‘Tour de Terrace’ festival in our city. Tour de Terrace (TdT) is an annual event put on by volunteers that coincides with Seattle’s larger Seafair activities. Many of the outlying cities have similar events to celebrate summer, community and the Navy. Last year I shot several hundred images at the TdT. Probably more than any other professional photographer, and as such, my photos from last year were featured throughout this year’s official program guide. The cover alone utilizes eight of my images. Inside were another 5-6 more. These were distributed throughout the fair as well as through the Weekly Herald, a local newspaper highlighting community news and events. (see image at left)
So, of COURSE I was going to shoot the events of THIS year’s TdT! I actually did more this year, trying to include the inaugural 5K fun run event, the fireworks, and of course, all of the parade. If you’re on Facebook, you can view ALL of my photos from this weekend long event by going to the Tour de Terrace Facebook page.
For this project, I decided to focus on the fair portion of the weekend, and show off some of my favorites captured among the 2076 shots I took. Hopefully, this small collection will highlight the fun and excitement that our little community fair brings to the people of Mountlake Terrace.
Once you’ve had your thrills and chills at the fair, scoot on over to Iryna’s page to see what she’s been up to for the last month…
